Medieval Town / Rhodos Old Town
The Medieval Town is located in Rhodos Town and within a 4 km long wall. When you approach the walls of the Medieval Town (Old Town of Rhodos), you are about to enter the oldest inhabited medieval town in Europe. Inside you shall be amazed from the Medieval buildings, Mosques, Traditional Fountains, Byzantine and Gothic churches. Apart of its history & architecture you can find several shops of almost any kind, restaurants, bars & cafés and night clubs. In the Medieval Town of Rhodes (or Old Town) you will for sure enjoy one of the most interesting walks on Rhodos island. There are roughly 200 streets or lanes that simply have no name.
The Palace of the Grand Masters, was reconstructed by the Italians in 1940s, after it was demolished by a gunpowder explosion in 1856. Now days, it stands out because of its imposing entrance and well-built towers and battlements. The interior of the Grand Master Palace, with priceless treasures, mosaics, and its green garden, will make you, feel amazed by its beauty. Highly recommended and it has to be visited!!
